Hello, I am Susan Olij, welcome to my world.
Olij Studio is where I work, teaching, and make art, since 2006, I do adjunct lecturing in LaSalle College of the Arts Singapore since 2010 and have launched a new short courses titled "Travel Sketching" in 2019
Olij Studio is a space to think, a space to create, and a way to connect meaningfully with people. Born in Indonesia in the mid 70's, I come from a creative household, my mother paints on textiles, and my Dutch step-father makes modernist sculptures for fun. As an adult, I have lived in a variety of places from the UK to New York City, summer's in Holland and the last 17 years, in Singapore. Throughout, I've never stopped making art.
In mid 2018, I store the studio and the home in Singapore, and started travelling the world, and accidently produced travel sketchbooks. My drawings aims to express the real world, the fascinating variety of cultures and to be a mirror of the era.
The home Studio is set up to support and encourage creative freedom, a respite for the mundane, and to recollect distracted attention. I welcome anyone curious to draw on their creativity as well as using art to develop self awareness and mindful living.
